Tel-jeunes launches its annual donation campaign
Tel-jeunes is launching its annual donation campaign today: Young people are at their breaking point.
Starting November 17th and for 2 weeks, emails and social media posts will encourage donors and the general public to give their support to teenagers who need to be listened to, soothed, and reassured – something Tel-jeunes has been doing with commitment and passion for over 30 years. Until January, posters, digital screens, online advertisements, and direct mail will invite Quebecers to donate to Tel-jeunes.
An alarming observation
Tel-jeunes' purpose is well-established: for over 30 years, the organization has been responding daily to hundreds of young people from all over the Province.
While topics are as varied as adolescence itself can be (friendship, love, family, sexuality, school, etc.), the constant rise in interventions related to mental health issues is worrying: self-harm, depression, severe anxiety, and suicidal ideation are now among the top reasons for contact.
The reality is that young people are at their breaking point. Exhausted, with no strength left. Our teams are witnessing it, and the trend is unfortunately not improving.
Concrete and accessible daily help
Specifically, Tel-jeunes offers:
A professional intervention center staffed by qualified counselors, continuously trained to listen to and soothe young people.
A first-line intervention accessible by phone, SMS, and chat, for immediate and confidential support.
A discussion forum for teens, so they never feel alone in what they are experiencing.
Educational content for young people to learn independently and at their own pace.
Tools for school staff to adequately support young people.
Our priorities for a stronger impact on young people
With its donation campaign, Tel-jeunes aims to further increase its impact on young people and is focusing on 3 major priorities:
Addressing the rising demand for help: being available for young people at key moments for them and removing barriers to seeking help.
Responding adequately and effectively: by accelerating its digital transformation, Tel-jeunes will have tools adapted to the changing expectations, habits, and needs of young people.
Addressing the real needs of young people: multiplying initiatives to better understand young people, their realities, and foster collective reflection through studies and population surveys.
